Hi to all! First let me apologize for how woefully neglected this blog has been in the last couple of weeks. Life picked up at such a fast clip and that this blog was sacrificed for the greater good :). Thank you all for your continued interest in my work and life here, and thank you all for the support. I thank God everyday for each and everyone of you. I thank Him for your support and your prayers. You are so invaluable, I could not be here without you.
Life here has been interesting the past few weeks. I am sure all of you have heard about the unrest that is sweeping this part of the world. Here, we have not been immune to the turmoil either. In the past two weeks this country has been thrown into a hurricane of unrest and unknowns. The south has voted for succession, which means in July this country will split into two. The economy has been struggling so the currency has dropped and inflation is rising. Food prices are soaring and people are getting angry. The government has been trying to maintain control with a heavy hand, and people are taking their anger to the streets. All that to say, is please pray for this country. It will only be God who can bring peace to this land in this time.
"Work" here continues despite the unrest. I have had some great moments in the classroom in the past two weeks where I have been able to talk about God or pray for a student. It is those little seeds which I am asking God to grow in these children's lives in the future. This week I will going over to one of my student's homes to hang out with the mom. I really like this family and am enjoying building a relationship with them. The turmoil of the country is making for an interesting door into a good conversation about faith and trust, so please lift up my time with this family and the conversations we will have.
Thank you again for the support and prayers. I hope you all have a wonderful week!!
love,
j
